While the West generally associates full moons with sinister werewolf transformations and the like, the East sees its brightest nights as auspicious. The full moon of the twelfth lunar month signifies the end of Thailand’s main rice harvest. It is time to thank the Water Goddess Mae Nam Kongka (Mother Ganges) for her year’s supply—while symbolically setting misfortune adrift.

“Akha Hill Tribe Innocence” by Glen Allison
The Akha hill tribe. It’s thought they may have originated in Mongolia about 1500 years ago. Today most Akha hill tribes live in southern China or in northern Thailand or in two provinces of nearby northern Laos.
I love their clothing, I’ll have to give them a draw sometime, as well as a new Padaung sketch.
New fabric for my new Sinh! I thought I’d upload these in case anyone wants a pattern reference. I know before I was looking for references for some sketches but the selection was lacking..so here you guys go.
